Watching the Sky

August 21 - The Great American Eclipse. Today, millions of people are watching the sky in anticipation of viewing a total solar eclipse. For many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Many have been spent months, or even years, planning where they will be for this day. They are hoping for the perfect weather, clear skies. A total solar eclipse truly is an amazing experience. I have never seen one, but I can understand the excitement and anticipation of viewing one. But, there is always the chance that clouds could cover this sight. The wrong cloud at the wrong time could bring disappointment to so many people. All the time spent planning, for nothing?

A future day - The Return of Jesus Christ. Some day, unknown to man, Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, is going to descend from heaven with a shout. No one will miss this event. The Bible says every eye shall see Him. Jesus tells us to watch and to prepare for this event as well. But, many people are not prepared for this. He is coming to receive His people, those who have accepted Him as their Savior and King, and take them to an eternal bliss in heaven. He is coming as a judge over those who have rejected Him. There are also people who are excited with anticipation for this day. There are others who are terrified because they know they are not ready to meet Him. Planning for this day will not result in disappointment. Our hope and our faith will become sight. It will be real.

Whether or not you prepare to see the eclipse, only affects what you will see and do today. Tomorrow will be another day to go on with life. But, whether or not we prepare for the return of our Lord Jesus will make a difference for the rest of our lives and forever. Are you prepared for this?

Until He comes - enjoy the eclipse!

Here are some Bible verses referring to Jesus' return: Mark 13:33-37, Revelation 1:7, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 John 2:28.
